A Nashville Songwriter Round is one of my favorite formats: a handful of singer-songwriters in a row, taking turns playing a song and sharing the story behind it. No setlist, no rigid schedule — just songs and the real reason they got written. You see this format everywhere in Nashville, from the Bluebird Café to small bars in East Nashville. This past summer, I got to bring that feeling to a Dutch venue, and it was every bit as special as I'd hoped.
What makes a songwriter round so beautiful is the vulnerability. There's no band filling out the sound — it's just you, your guitar, and an audience that hears every word. Taking turns with other songwriters, commenting on each other's songs, occasionally jumping in to play along: that's exactly the atmosphere I wanted to bring back from Nashville.
The response was overwhelming. People stuck around afterward to talk about which song hit them hardest, and why. That's exactly why I value this format so much — it's not about the spectacle, it's about the story.
